Charles G. Peabody

Charles G. Peabody, age 73, of Park Rapids, MN passed away peacefully in his home on November 10, 2016 surrounded by his loving family.  Charles was born June 9, 1943 in Park Rapids, MN to Chester & Violet (Erickson) Peabody.  He attended public schools in Park Rapids and graduated from Park Rapids High School with the class of 1961.  In September of 1961, Charles entered the United States Air Force serving his basic training at Lackland AFB, Texas and served the rest of his tour at Altus AFB in Oklahoma.  After receiving his honorable discharge, Charles returned to the Park Rapids area where he worked as an air plane mechanic until 1976.  Charles then gained employment working for the Co-op Sampo in Park Rapids as an auto mechanic and sold farm related products.  In 1987, Charles began a 26 year career working for Hubbard County as a maintenance/custodial worker at the County Court House.  In August of 1997 Charles was united in marriage to Virginia C. Sweiven.  Charles was deeply saddened by her death on September 3, 2007.  Charles loved the outdoors and especially enjoyed growing beautiful flowers into colorful splendor for all to enjoy.  He was also a big NASCAR fan and had an interest in radio controlled aircraft.  Charles was a voracious reader who enjoyed keeping abreast of current events.  He also enjoyed reading about WWII, and American, British, and German Aviation history.  Above all, Charles enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren who he loved with all of his heart.        He will be lovingly remembered by his four children: Eugene (Lisa) Peabody of Oklahoma City, OK; Valerie (Paul) Holland of Litchville, ND; Christy (Chris) Heinle of Silver Lake, MN; Andrea Folstrom of Naytahwaush, MN, and a stepdaughter Melissa Sweiven of Osakis, MN.  11 precious grandchildren: Zachary, Chantry, Alexandra, Victoria, Elias, Signy, Odne, Tyler, Caden, Xavier, and Adele?; and three great grandchildren: Kolter, Zoie, and Nora; one brother, William (Esther) Peabody of Alexandria, MN; and a sister, Cheryl D?Amico of Park Rapids, MN; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.        Charles was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Virginia, and one brother, Larry.       Funeral services will be held 2 PM Monday, November 14, 2016 at Jones-Pearson Funeral Home in Park Rapids with Pastor Tim Wilson officiating.  Burial will follow with military honors by the Star of the North Marine Corps League at Green Valley Cemetery in Becker County, MN.  Visitation will be held 5-8 PM Sunday, November 13, 2016 at the funeral home and again one hour prior to funeral services on Monday.       To leave online condolences or to view the video tribute please visit www.jonespearson.com
