Marceline (Marcy) Helen Mills

August 15, 1934 — November 14, 2016

      Marceline “Marcy” Helen (Kernan) Mills, age 82, of Park Rapids, MN passed away November 14, 2016 at St. Joseph Hospital in Park Rapids.  She was born August 15, 1934 to Owen Marcel & Helen Dora (Potter) Kernan in Oregon City, Oregon.  She attended Wilkes Grade School graduating in 1948 then attended Washington High School for three years.  She married the love of her life, Arthur Mills, on August 10, 1952.  The young couple moved to Tracy, CA to be with Arthur before he went overseas with the military in January 1953.  While Arthur was away she went back to Portland, OR where she took a job as a secretary with Oil Company.  Later the couple moved to Des Moines, IA where she worked at Farm Bureau in the office.  It was then that she found that she loved working in restaurants and doing waitressing.  She worked for many different restaurants as a waitress over the years, retiring in 1993 when Arthur retired.  Her hobbies included crocheting, tending to her flower gardens, caring for her yard, and canning.  She and Art also enjoyed camping and traveling and spent several winters in Mission, Texas after their retirement.  She was an active member of Faith Baptist now Faith Bridge Church for many years.       Marcy is survived by her husband of 64 years, Arthur Mills of Park Rapids, two sons, Kevin L.  Mills of Mahnomen, MN; Michael Mills of St. Paul, MN; six grandchildren and several great grandchildren; two sisters: Betty Lou Grassl and Dolores McFetridge both of Spokane, WA and one brother, John Kernan of Oregon City, OR.  She was preceded in death by her parents.       Memorial services will be held 9:30 AM Saturday, November 19, 2016 at Faith Bridge Church with visitation beginning at 9 AM Saturday at the church.
