EUGENE F. “Jim” RENNEBERG October 20, 1927 – December 24, 2016     Eugene F. “Jim” Renneberg, age 89, a long time Menahga, MN area resident, peacefully passed into heavenly glory on Christmas eve, Saturday, December 24, 2016 at the Green Pine Acres Nursing Home in Menahga.  Jim spent Christmas this year with his Savior and those loved ones that passed on before him.    Jim was born on October 20, 1927 to John and Clara (Passman) Renneberg in Cudworth, Saskatchewan, Canada.  It was there that he spent his boyhood years and completed his elementary education.  As a young teenager, his family moved to the New Prague, MN area where he attended the New Prague High School and graduated with the Class of 1949.  As a young man, Jim entered the United States Army Air Corps where he proudly served his country in the Pacific Theatre at the end  of World War II.  After receiving his honorable discharge, Jim returned to New Prague where he worked in management of the West End Lanes Bowling Alley for a number of years.  Later, he gained employment working as a bartender at Buster’s Bar in Minneapolis.  Jim began a second career working as a mortgage banker at the First National Bank in Minneapolis and later transferred over to the First National Bank of St. Paul where he continued in banking until his retirement in the mid-1980’s.  In 1985, he moved to the family lake home on Twin Lake near Menahga.  Here he enjoyed the northern MN outdoors, the wildlife and the peace and serenity of the area.  Jim was a devout and faithful member of the Assumption of Our Lady Catholic Church in Menahga where he served as an usher and as bookkeeper.  Above all, Jim will be long remembered for his loving devotion to his parents who he cared for in their final years and for his love for each of his siblings.     He will be lovingly remembered by his three sisters: Bernice Tacheny of Brooklyn Park, MN, Dorothy Alstad of Robbinsdale and Joanie Hirmer of Minneapolis; as well as his many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.    Jim was preceded in death by his parents and four siblings: Florence, John, Les and Iona.    Funeral Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated 11 AM Thursday, December 29, 2016 at the Assumption of Our Lady Catholic Church in Menahga with Father Arlie Sowada officiating.  The organist was Ione Ellingson and the mass music will be led by Tom and Tim Ellingson. The mass music will include: “How Great Thou Art”. “Be Not Afraid” and “Immaculate Mary”. The casket bearers will be nieces, Paula Tacheny and Mary Tacheny.  The military honors will be provided by the Guy L. McDermeit VFW Post # 626 of Menahga.  A second funeral service is being planned at the Ft. Snelling Chapel in Mpls with burial at the Ft.
