Cheryl L. D'Amico

Cheryl Lee D’Amico, age 68, a lifelong Park Rapids area resident, peacefully passed into eternal glory on Saturday evening, December 31, 2016 surrounded by her loved ones at the Heritage Living Center in Park Rapids.     Cheryl was born on January 4, 1948 in Park Rapids to Chester and Violet (Erickson) Peabody.  She attended the Potter Country School near her parent’s farm and then went on to attend High School in Park Rapids from where she graduated with the Class of 1966.  In 1967, Cheryl was united in marriage to LeRoy Proffit  in Park Rapids.  This union was blessed with three children: Tony, Debbie and Mark.  Cheryl devoted herself to making a warm and loving home for her family.  She was a wonderful cook and baker who will be long remembered for her delicious home cooking.  Each year she looked forward to planting a large vegetable garden which she nurtured into fruitful abundance to help meet the needs of her growing family.  For many years she made and sold jewelry and enjoyed spending her spare time working on arts and crafts.  She enjoyed photography and became quite talented with a camera.  In 1993 Cheryl’s life was fulfilled completely in her marriage to Claude D’Amico, Sr. Their years together were deeply blessed with love.  Above all, Cheryl enjoyed spending time with her family and friends who she loved with all her heart.    She will be lovingly remembered by her three children: Tony Proffit of Thief River Falls, MN, Debbie Proffit of Moorhead and Mark (Robin) Proffit of Clearbrook, MN;  her step-children: Claude D’Amico Jr., Mary D’Amico-Fareira and Frank D’Amico; thirteen grandchildren and step-grandchildren and six great grandchildren and step-great grandchildren; her brother, Bill (Esther) Peabody of Alexandria; her sister-in-law, Dorothy Peabody of Mpls.; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.     Cheryl was preceded in death by her husband, Claude, Sr. and two brothers: Larry and Charles Peabody.  Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at the Jones-Pearson Funeral Home in Park Rapids with Interment to follow the services beginning at two pm at the Duddly Memorial Cemetery. To leave online condolences, or view the tribute, please visit www.jonespearson.com
