Donald A. LaBounty

DONALD A. LaBOUNTY April 3, 1930 – January 21, 2017   Donald A. LaBounty, age 86, of Park Rapids, MN, formerly of Menahga, MN, peacefully passed into the eternal glory of heaven on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at the CHI St. Joseph’s Hospital in Park Rapids, MN. Donald was born on April 3, 1930 at Stirum, North Dakota to Edward and Viola (Bartl) LaBounty. He grew up and attended school near Stirum and Lisbon, North Dakota.  He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. Following his honorable discharge, Donald attended Hanson Trade School in Fargo.  Donald married Jeanette Jacobson on September 20, 1952 and they lived in Fargo for 26 years where he worked for Myra Equipment and Fairmont Foods (RDO). In 1981, they moved to Menahga, Minnesota.  He was employed at the Lamb Weston-RDO potato plant for many years. Later, they moved to Park Rapids after he retired.  Donald is survived by his wife, Jeanette; two sons: Terry (Marcia) of Yankton, South Dakota and Scott (Debbie) of Buffalo, New York; two brothers: Harley (Shirley) of Gifford, IL and Stanley (Verna) of Fargo; three grandchildren: Brad LaBounty, Becky (Curtis) Ryman, and Andrea LaBounty; 2 great grandchildren: Jayden and Taryn; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by a son, Dean, his parents and a brother and sister.
