Randy Harvala

RANDY LEE HARVALA September 11, 1961 – April 13, 2017   Randy Lee Harvala, age 55, a lifelong Osage, MN area resident, suddenly and unexpectedly passed from this life to eternal life at his home in Osage on Thursday evening, April 13, 2017. Randy was born on September 11, 1961 in Park Rapids, MN to Floyd and Irene (Kuismi) Harvala.  He attended public school in Osage before going on to attend junior and senior high school in Park Rapids where he graduated with the Class of 1980.  As a young man, Randy worked with his father in the family business, Harvala’s Sales and Service.  On September 1, 1984, Randy was united in marriage to Tina Marie Mikesh.  They were blessed with three children: Karen, Amanda and Garrett.  The young family made their home in Osage in the same home he was raised in and had purchased from his parents.  In 1992, Randy and Tina took over the electronics division of the Harvala business which he operated until 2007.  He then embarked on a new career path and began using his technical skills and knowledge working in maintenance for the Lamb-Weston RDO Company in Park Rapids.   He enjoyed his work there which kept him busy until the time of his death.  Throughout his life, Randy loved the outdoors.  He enjoyed fishing the area lakes and for the past few summers was a member of the Walleye League.  He also enjoyed playing softball and played several seasons with the Old Timers League.  Randy also enjoyed music and particularly loved to attend outdoor music festivals.  Above all, Randy enjoyed spending time with his precious wife, Tina, his children and his extended family whenever he could. Randy will be lovingly remembered by his wife for these past 33 years, Tina of Osage; his two daughters: Karen (Phil Skaro) Harvala of Osage and Amanda (Trevor Hendrickson) Harvala of Park Rapids; his son, Garrett (Cara Paulson) Harvala of Park Rapids; three grandchildren: Tyson Stopher, Serena Hendrickson and Zaylynn Harvala; his parents: Floyd and Irene Harvala of Park Rapids; his sister, Renee (Burt) Hill of Green Valley Township, MN and one brother, Jon (MaryAnn) Harvala of Missoula, MT; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.  He was preceded in death by his grandparents; two nephews: Aaron and Mathew Harvala and two grandsons: Cayden Hendrickson and Zappa Harvala. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Thursday, April 20, 2017 at the Spruce Grove Apostolic Lutheran Church near Wolf Lake, MN with Rev. Elmer Yliniemi and Rev. James Ylinieimi officiating.  The active casket bearers will be:  Nicholas Hill, Ryan Mattson, Roth Mattson, Kyle Mikesh, Mike Luna, Steve Jordahl, Terry Edwards, Bill Reichling and Ben Hillukka.  The honorary casket bearers will be: Karen Harvala, Phil Skaro, Amanda Harvala, Trevor Hendrickson, Garrett Harvala and Cara Paulson.  Interment will be made in the Pickeral Lake Cemetery near Osage.  Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 PM Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at the Jones-Pearson Funeral Home in Park Rapids and will continue at the church on Thursday beginning at 1 PM.  To leave on line condolences or to view the video tribute please visit www.jonespearson.com.
