LaVonne Arlene Beck Lampl, age 64, a long time Park Rapids area resident, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at her home in Park Rapids. LaVonne was born on April 5, 1953 to Orville and Valeria (Carlson) Beck in Park Rapids. She was baptized at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Park Rapids where she grew up in the Catholic faith. It was in Park Rapids that she grew into womanhood graduating from the Park Rapids High School with the Class of 1970. In November of 1973, LaVonne was united in marriage to Jerry Lampl in South Dakota. They enjoyed life together until Jerry died from injuries sustained in an automobile accident in 1977. After Jerry’s death, LaVonne took back her maiden name. She worked for the Sunset Nursing Home, which later became Heritage Living Center, for 15 years in their laundry department. Later she gained employment at the Pine Manor Treatment Center. She also worked in the kitchen at the West Forty restaurant and completed summer jobs at Itasca State Park. She also helped her mom at Wimpy’s Café for many years. LaVonne will be lovingly remembered by her two brothers: Dave (Jane) Beck of Park Rapids and Gary Beck of St. Paul, MN; three sisters: Connie (Stanley) Preston of Menahga, Elizabeth Davis of Minneapolis and Linda Beck of Park Rapids; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry; her parents; her step-father, Roger Carlson; two brothers: Greg and Mike; her nephew, Alex and her grandparents: Marie and Alex Cekalla. Services will be held 7 PM Friday, May 5, 2017 at the Jones-Pearson Funeral Home in Park Rapids. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service. Urn bearers will be her nieces and nephews: Stephanie, Jennifer, Paula, Greg, Nicole, Tasha, Ryan, Mike and Nate. Private family graveside services will be held.
