Phyllis Brock

PHYLLIS AUDREY BROCK December 5, 1929 – May 20, 2017      Phyllis Audrey Brock, age 87 of Park Rapids, MN, peacefully passed into eternity on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at the Heritage Living Center in Park Rapids where she was temporarily residing while receiving rehabilitation therapy.      Phyllis was born on December 5, 1929 in Frazee, MN to William and Pearl (Jensen) Heimark.  She grew up in the Osage, MN area where she attended school through the eighth grade before attending high school in Park Rapids where she graduated in 1947. As a young woman, she began working as a dental assistant for Dr. Vern Shuckhart at the Medical Arts Building in Park Rapids. On June 6, 1953, she was united in marriage to Kenneth Bruce Brock in Walker, MN. Their union was blessed with two sons: Kirk and Kent. Phyllis devoted her life to making a warm and loving home for her husband and sons. She was a wonderful cook and baker who will be long remembered for her delicious homemade meals. Phyllis was a day care provider who helped many Park Rapids area children receive a secure and loving start in life. In addition, she helped brighten the day of many local women in her work as an Avon consultant in a career that spanned over 30 years. For many years she was an instrumental part of the Brock family annual deer hunting tradition and spent many a cold November day out in her deer stand proudly being successful in harvesting three nice eight point bucks. Each day Phyllis looked forward to her evening telephone chats with her sister, Shirley. Above all, Phyllis loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren with all her heart and inspite of all her health issues and living in constant pain, she looked forward to spending time with them whenever possible.   She will be lovingly remembered by her sons: Kirk (Kathy) Brock and Kent (Pam) Brock all of Park Rapids; eight dearly loved grandchildren: Bridgette Smith, Korey Brock, Kristen Zemek, Brittney Brock, Johnnie Weller, Steve Weller, Jordan Boettcher and Kayla Brock; 12 great grandchildren; her sister, Shirley Olson of Elbow Lake, MN; her sister-in-law, Sharon Lindvall of Little Fork, MN; her dear friend, Kathy Rossi of Park Rapids as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and numerous friends.     Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ken in September of 2011 and two brothers: Cyrus and Willis.     Memorial services will be held 11 AM Friday, May 26, 2017 at the Riverside United Methodist Church in Park Rapids with the Rev. Carl “Chip” Nielsen officiating. Linda Szuszitsky will serve as the organist. Her eight grandchildren will serve as her urn bearers. Visitation will be held 5-8 PM Thursday May 25, 2017 at the Jones-Pearson Funeral Home in Park Rapids. Inurnment will be made in the Greenwood Cemetery at a later date.
