Kenneth Arvid Lohse

Kenneth Arvid Lohse February 14, 1928 – July 24, 2017                   Kenneth Arvid Lohse, age 89 of Park Rapids, MN, peacefully passed into eternity on July 24, 2017 at the Heritage Cottages in Park Rapids, with his loving wife at his side, where he was temporarily residing while receiving therapy.                 He was born on February 14, 1928 in Elbow Lake, MN to Ernest and Thora (Hanson) Lohse.  He grew up in the Henning, MN area and attended the Inman Township Country School for the first few years.  As a young man Ken enlisted in the United States Army where he proudly served his country as a surgical tech mostly at Ford Ord, CA.  On November 28, 1956, Kenneth married Molly Struna and they were blessed with three children:  Robert, Sheila and Colleen.  Following his honorable discharge, Ken began working for the Northern Pacific Railroad.  He worked his way up to the position of Conductor.  He retired in 1990.  Throughout his working career, Ken made his home in Moorhead, MN, Washington State and retired in Park Rapids, MN.  On February 19, 2005, Ken’s life was fulfilled in his marriage to Luella Bliss at the Calvary Lutheran Church in Park Rapids.  Their past 12 years together have brought much happiness.  They enjoyed dancing, the companionship of their two cats, watching the wildlife and birds that graced their property and worshipping together and their fellowship with their church family at Calvary Lutheran Church.                 Ken will be lovingly remembered by his wife Luella of Park Rapids, his three children:  Robert (Deborah) Lohse of Jemez Springs, NM, Sheila (Mike) Coy of Craig, CO and Coleen (Stuart Dyson) Lohse of Albuquerque, MN; two step-children: Karlyn Hansen of  Milliken CO and Karsten Bliss of Park Rapids; three grandchildren:  Moneika (Brandon) Sweeney, Hannah Coy and George Dyson; two great grandchildren: Kayle and John; three step-grandchildren: Brittney Swanson, Brigette Hansen and Bryan Bliss and one step-great grandchild, Clarissa Bliss; as well as his brother, Eugene Lohse of Perham, MN, other relatives and friends.                 He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Philemon.                 Services are planned for 11 AM Monday, July 31, 2017 at the Calvary Lutheran Church in Park Rapids with the Rev. Stephen Norby officiating.  Martha Thompson will be the organist.  The urn bearers will be grandchildren: Hannah Coy, Brittney Swanson, Brigette Hansen, Bryan Bliss and great granddaughter, Clarissa Bliss.  Military honors will be provided by the Star of The North Marine Corps League under the direction of Mr. David Free.  Interment will be made in the Bethel Cemetery east of Park Rapids.  Following the service, a luncheon will be hosted by the church for all.  Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service.
