Lawrence LeRoy Schindeldecker, age 91 of Wadena, MN, formerly a long time Menahga, MN area resident peacefully entered eternity in the early morning hours of Sunday, August 27, 2017 at the Fair Oaks Lodge in Wadena, MN. Lawrence was born on June 17, 1926 in Leeds, North Dakota to Walter and Doris (Torgeson) Schindeldecker. As a small boy he moved with his family to the Menahga, MN area. He grew up attending country school and helping on the nearby family farm. As a young man, Lawrence entered the United States Navy where he proudly served his country fighting in the Pacific theatre of World War II. Following his honorable discharge, Lawrence returned home to Menahga and purchased a farm by Jim Cook Lake in Shell River Township where he dairy farmed and raised his family. Lawrence was a life time member of the Guy L. McDermeit VFW Post #6206. He will be lovingly remembered by his two children: Debbie Chesney of Park Rapids and Jeff and wife, Monica Schindeldecker of Menahga, MN as well as a step-daughter, Sharon and her husband, Kenny Koskela of Park Rapids as well as many precious grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Lawrence was preceded in death by his parents; his son, James; three brothers: Harold, Albert and Chet; four sisters: Bonnie, Betty, Jane and Lorraine and his half-sister, Evelyn. Private family services are planned. The Cardini-Pearson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
