Dr. Mary Lee Enfield Ph.D February 28, 1932 – September 30, 2017    Dr. Mary Lee Enfield Ph.D, 85, passed away on Saturday, September 30th at Rosewood On Broadway in Fargo, ND.    Mary Lee Enfield was born in Osage, MN on February 28, 1932, to Lester and Vivian Enfield. She graduated from Park Rapids high school. Mary Lee attended one year of college at Macalester in St. Paul, one year at the St. Paul Bible Institute, and then graduated from Concordia College in Moorhead. After graduation she worked as a social worker in Fargo. She then taught school at the Red Lake Indian Reservation. She was a teacher in the Bloomington school system and later became the coordinater for learning disabilities there. She received her Master’s and Doctorate degrees from the University of Minnesota in Educational Psychology. She was a consultant to the Department of Learning Disabilities State Department of Special Education in the area of in-service programs for Minnesota. She was an instructor at the University of Minnesota, and she was active in the Orten Society. She received the Minnesota Special Educator of the Year award in 1972. She also served on the Concordia Board of Regents from 1980-1988. Mary Lee traveled extensively to present her reading program, Project Read, in workshops throughout the U.S. Her multi-sensory method of reading has touched the lives of many children. Project Read is still succeeding to give children and parents hope. After her retirement she spent time enjoying her lake home on Straight Lake. She always had a jigsaw puzzle going and she loved to read.    She is survived by her sister, Peg and Peg’s husband, Don Stone; nephew, Mark (Laurie) of Wahpeton, ND, two nieces: Julie Stone of St. Cloud and Debra (Greg) Brown of Lakeville. She is also survived by great nephews and nieces: Jason (Katie) Stone and their sons: Gavin, Liam and Christian of Fargo and Jonathan (Ellen) Stone and their daughters: Havyn, Adleigh and Austin of Wahpeton, Patrick Brown and Emily Brown of Lakeville, and Laura Brown of Duluth.
