IDA MINERVA BLAZER HOEFS May 27, 1919 – October 13, 2017    Ida Minerva Blazer Hoefs was born May 27, 1919 in Oakes, ND to Harry and Cora (Beckwith) Blazer. She attended rural school in Dickey County, ND. At the age of 13, she moved with her parents to a farm north of Dorset and then later to a farm northeast of Park Rapids. She graduated from the Park Rapids High School in 1938. At the age of 17, she was baptized and confirmed at the First English Lutheran Church in Dorset. On June 7, 1939, she was married to Edward Hoefs at the First English Lutheran Church in Dorset. They moved to Straight River Township where they farmed and raised their family.    Ida was active in church work, taught Sunday school, Vacation Bible School, and she was a member of Ladies Aid. She transferred to St. John’s Lutheran Church in Park Rapids in 1983. Ida worked for the Frazey Funeral Home, Rapid River Logging Camp, Dahl’s Bakery, and The Chef Club. On her 70th birthday, she felt very blessed with the birth of a great grandson, Blake. They celebrated many birthdays together. She sewed many stuffed animals, quilts, knit afghans, and dolls for family and friends. She and Ed always had a large vegetable garden from which many jars of canned goods were made. She enjoyed the many flowers planted around the house and garden. Ida made many dozens of raised donuts, cookies, pulled taffy, baked and decorated cakes for weddings, baptisms, birthdays and other special occasions, and also made many other goodies for family and guests. Ida also helped care for her father, Harry, and her sister, Martha.    Ida is survived by two daughters: Edith (Carl) Lymburner of Osage, Esther (Russ) Johnsrud of Park Rapids, four sons: Phillip (Liz) Hoefs of Coon Rapids, Earl (Kathy) Hoefs of Menahga, Paul (Joyce) Hoefs of St. Peter, and David (Carol) Hoefs of Park Rapids, 15 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren, five great great grandchildren with one on the way, sisters-in-law Mabel Ladely and Jean Gren along with many nephews, nieces and cousins.    She was preceded in death by her husband Ed in March of 2011, granddaughter Kimberly, grandson Craig in December of 2013, parents, seven brothers and two sisters.
