Ruby Pearl Schott

December 24, 1917 — January 9, 2018

Ruby Pearl Schott, age 100, a lifelong Ponsford, MN area resident, peacefully passed into eternity at the CHI St. Joseph’s Health on January 9, 2018, with her loved ones at her side.    Ruby Pearl Schott was born in Ponsford, MN to Arthur and Edith (Conklin) Maybary on Christmas Eve, 1917. At the age of three, her family moved to Gemmell, MN where her family farmed. Ruby attended public school at Mizpah, MN. At the age of 17, Ruby moved to Oriska, ND. Later her family returned to Ponsford, MN to care for her Grandfather. Ruby operated a café in Ponsford for several years before taking over her family’s hospitality business which she owned and operated for over seven years. On October 30, 1948, Ruby was united in marriage to Robert Schott. Ruby worked alongside her husband in operating their Texaco service station in beautiful downtown Ponsford. In addition, Ruby devoted herself to caring for their three daughters: Beverly, Barbara and Suzie. She was a wonderful cook and baker who will long be remembered for her homemade chicken and her fried fish meals at the cabin. For many years, Ruby baked and decorated wedding cakes for young area brides. In her later years, Ruby enjoyed working outside in her productive vegetable gardens and beautiful flower gardens. Ruby loved keeping busy and working with her hands making Christmas stockings for her children and grandchildren and making ceramics. She especially enjoyed spending time at their cabin on Shell Lake and fishing with Bob at their “secret” fishing spots. Above all, Ruby will be remembered for her love and devotion to her husband, her children and her grandchildren.    She will be lovingly remembered by her children: Beverly (John) Watson of Park Rapids; Barbara (Ken) Harris of Park Rapids; Carolyn “Suzie” (Ronald “Red”) Harris of Bemidji, MN; 12 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren and 23 great great grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.    Ruby was preceded in death by her parents Arthur and Edith; her dearly loved husband Bob who went to be with the Lord in May of 1999; son-in-law Thomas Rohwer; grandson Todd Rohwer and granddaughter Kathleen Watson.
