August 28, 1934 — February 11, 2018

EARL LYNN MILLER August 28, 1934 – February 11, 2018    Earl Lynn Miller, age 83, a long time Lake George, MN area resident, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly while busily working outside at his home on Sunday afternoon, February 11, 2018.    Earl was born on August 28, 1934 in Schoolcraft Township near Lake George, MN to George and Mary (Burnham) Miller. He attended Lake George Public School through the eighth grade. As a boy he joined his father working in the woods cutting timber. At the age of 14, young Earl struck out to work in the farm fields of North Dakota. While working in North Dakota, Earl gained employment at a Massey-Harris Farm Equipment Dealership at Devils Lake and helped with the repairs, maintenance and delivery of equipment. While working there he met and married Rita Bernice Fayant. They were blessed with four children: Dawn Marie, Vicky Lynn, Roberta Jo and William Mayo. The young couple moved back to the Lake George area where Earl began a long career working with heavy equipment installing cable for the utility companies. In 1967, Earl began his own company, the E.L. Miller Construction Company, installing utility cable throughout the United States. Earl was united in marriage to Peggy Wolfer on April 21, 1978 in Milaca. He purchased a small farm near Princeton, MN where they made their home for many years. Earl continued operating his construction company for 23 years until his retirement in 1991. He then worked part-time for Carroll Kahlstorf installing mono-rails and overhead cranes as well as did other part-time construction jobs during this time of semi-retirement. In 2004, Earl fulfilled his longtime dream of building a lake home near Lake George. He and Peggy enjoyed the peace and beauty of once again living among his Lake George friends and relatives. He loved fishing and hunting near his home. Each winter he spent many hours in his fish house spear fishing. Earl also enjoyed tinkering with his tractors and keeping busy working on his property. Above all, he devoted his life to his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He loved being a grandfather and was very proud of his family.    He will be lovingly remembered by his four children: Dawn (Tim) Fishel of Park Rapids, Vicky Gasparrini of New Hope, MN, Roberta Miller of Champlin, MN and William (Jamie) Miller of Lake George, MN; 11 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren; his sister-in-law, Fran Miller of Bemidji; as well as several nieces and nephews.    Earl was preceded in death by his parents; his two wives: Rita and Peggy; two brothers: Art and Jim; two sisters: Delores and Mick; his grandson, Eric and one great granddaughter, Delilah Rose.    Funeral services will be held 2PM Saturday, February 24, 2018 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Lake George with the Reverend Don Kirschner officiating.
