BETTY MARIE HENSEL December 7, 1932 – March 7, 2018    Betty Marie Hensel, age 85, a long-time Park Rapids area resident, passed away on March 7th, 2018 surrounded by her family.    Betty was born December 7th, 1932 to David and Myrtle (Nygaard) Aljoe on her parents’ farm near Rochert, MN. She attended Dist. #40 school through the 8th grade and attended Frazee High School graduating with the class of 1950. On January 6th, 1951 she was united in marriage to Marvin E. Hensel. To this union were born seven children.    She was fondly remembered for her ability to cook and bake for her family and friends. In addition to caring for her family, Betty was employed by St. Joseph’s Hospital and Heritage Living Center over a span of 20 years. In later years, Betty enjoyed jigsaw puzzles and reading. She was a long time member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and a member of the Evening Guild.    Betty is survived by her seven children: Beverly (Terry) Hockett of Frazee, MN, Robert (Diane) Hensel, Jeff Hensel, Ed (Ann) Hensel all of Park Rapids, MN, Earl (Coleen) Hensel of Farmington, MN, Jill (Tim) Hoffman of East Bethel, MN and Nancy (Kelly) McLean of Albertville, MN; siblings: Ilene (Jay) McCluskey of Eden Prairie, MN, Loretta Ford of Weslaco, TX and David (Loretta) Aljoe of Bloomington, MN; 21 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.    Betty was preceded in death by her husband Marvin and her parents.    Funeral services will be held 11 AM Monday March 12th, 2018 at the St. John’s Lutheran Church, Park Rapids, MN with Reverend James Neubauer officiating. Visitation will be held 5-8 PM Sunday March 11th, 2018 at the Jones-Pearson Funeral Home, Park Rapids, MN and will continue beginning one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Interment will be made next to her husband in the Greenwood Cemetery, Park Rapids, MN.
