MARJORIE HELEN (REPPERT) JOHNSON February 28, 1918 – May 30, 2018    Marjorie R. Johnson, age 100, a long-time resident of Park Rapids, MN, passed away on Wednesday evening, May 30, 2018 at Diamond Willow Assisted Living.    Marjorie was born on February 28, 1918 in Fremont, Nebraska to Elmer and Naomi (Howell) Reppert. She attended public school in Fremont where she graduated high school with the Class of 1935. She then attended the Midland Lutheran College where she earned a business degree. On September 5, 1940, Marjorie was united in marriage to Wilmer Bruce Johnson in Gothenburg, NE. In 1945, Marjorie and Wilmer purchased the Coast-to-Coast Hardware Store in Blair, NE where they worked side-by-side in the store’s operation. Their marriage was blessed with a daughter, Ann. In 1966, they purchased lake property on Long Lake near Park Rapids. Following their retirements in 1972, they spent summers at the lake and wintered in Tucson, AZ. In 1990, Marjorie endured the heartache of her husband’s sudden death. A short time later, she took up year-long residence in Park Rapids and made her home in the Summerfield Place Apartments where she lived for twenty years. Marjorie was a long-time member of the Riverside United Methodist Church in Park Rapids, a former member of the St. Joseph’s Hospital Auxiliary and the Up North Knitters Club. Marjorie will be long-remembered for her keen competitiveness at playing card games, especially, bridge, which she continued to play in the days just before her death.    Marjorie will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Ann L. Carroll, of Park Rapids; and her grandson, Jay Carroll and his wife, Jackie, of Laporte, MN.    She was preceded in death by her husband and her son-in-law, Leroy Carroll. Memorial services will be held 10 AM Monday, June 4, 2018 at the Jones-Pearson Funeral Home in Park Rapids with Rev. Lori Nielsen officiating. The urn bearer is her grandson, Jay Carroll.
