PATRICIA ANN BUTZIN August 24, 1946 – June 1, 2018                   Patricia Ann Butzin, age 71, a long time Osage, MN area resident, peacefully passed from this life to eternal life on Friday, June 1, 2018 at the St. Joseph’s Hospital in Park Rapids, MN with her loving husband, Harold at her side.                 Patricia was born on August 24, 1946 in Anchorage, Alaska to Russell and Beatrice (LaValley) Gilbert.  At the age of 18 months, she moved to Hibbing, MN where she attended public schools, graduating from the Hibbing High School with the Class of 1964.  As a young woman, Patricia ventured to Minneapolis where she gained employment working for the Gillette Corporation.  Patricia was blessed with a daughter, Leanne Denise on August 8, 1965.  She moved with her daughter to Norristown, PA.  In 1974, they moved to Toronto, Canada where they made their home for a time.  In 1975, they moved to Embarrass, MN where she resided until 1994.   On June 9, 1978 Patricia was united in marriage to Harold Frank Butzin in Sisseton, South Dakota, where she also gained the love of two sons: Timothy and Russell.  Patricia worked as an executive secretary for the Vice-President of the Oglebay Norton Corporation which was the company that managed the Eveleth Taconite Plant.  She and Harold retired from their careers on the iron range in 1994 and moved to beautiful Straight Lake near Osage, MN where they worked side by side in building their dream lake home.  Patricia was a woman whose faith was firmly built on what her Savior, Jesus Christ had done for her on the cross.  She was a long time member of the Evangelical Free Church in Embarrass where she and Harold had taught Sunday School.  After moving to Osage, she and Harold had attended the Faith Baptist Church in Park Rapids when her health allowed.   She loved attending women’s bible studies and also loved music.  She and her sister, Cecilia would write many songs professing Christ’s love and forgiveness.  The two would often sing those songs in church with Patricia playing her guitar.  Patricia had also served as a leader for her daughter’s 4-H Club many years.  Above all, Patricia will be remembered for her loving devotion to her husband, Harold, her daughter, Leanne; her sons: Timothy and Russell; her grandchildren and her great grandchildren who she loved with all her heart.                  She will be lovingly remembered by her husband for these past 40 years, Harold of Osage; her daughter, Leanne Denise Medved of Ramsey, MN; her two sons: Timothy Harold Butzin of Granite Falls, MN and Russell Dean Butzin of Tower, MN; her nine dearly loved grandchildren and 11 precious great grandchildren; five sisters: Cecilia (Jim) Hill of Mesa, AZ, Marcy (Jerry) Reynolds of Star, Idaho. Seere (Duke) Williams, Teena (Kevin) Thompson, and Bea (Adam) Williams all of Wasilla, Alaska; two brothers: George (JoAnn) Gilbert of Fremont, CA and Lee (Lisa) Smith of Glenn Heights, Texas; as well as numerous nieces, nephews other relatives and many friends.                 Patricia was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters: Deanna Lu Gilbert in 1952 and Lois Jane LeVesseur in 2011; and one brother, Russell David Gilbert in 1950.                 Funeral services will be held 11 AM Friday, June 8, 2018 at the Faithbridge Church in Park Rapids with the Rev. Ken Polley officiating.  Her casket bearers will be: Abby Medved, Olivia Larson, Ronald Butzin, Donald Butzin, Christian Butzin, Dustin Butzin, Bob Koosmann, and Todd Larson. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service at the church.  Interment will be made in the Riverside Cemetery at Osage, MN.  Following the service a luncheon will be provided by the Faithbridge Church family.  To leave online condolences or to view the video tribute please visit www.jonespearson.com
