MARLIN ROGER MILLER
June 26, 1968 – October 29, 2018

Marlin Roger Miller, age 50, a longtime Ponsford, MN area resident, died unexpectedly from injuries sustained in an auto accident while at his job in Frazee in the early Monday morning hours of October 29, 2018.

Marlin was born on June 26, 1968, in Paynesville, MN to Roger and Darlene (Welk) Miller.  At the age of 4, he moved with his family to a farm near Ponsford, MN.  Marlin attended public school in Frazee, graduating from the Frazee High School with the Class of 1986.  Marlin then went on to attend the Wadena Vocational-Technical College from where he graduated in 1988.  Since high school, Marlin has worked as a bus driver starting with driving the shuttle bus from Park Rapids to the Wadena Vo-Tech each day.  He began working for the Anderson Bus Company after graduating from technical College, as both a school bus driver and a chartered coach driver in a career that spanned over 30 years.   In addition, Marlin worked for the historic Holmes Theatre in Detroit Lakes for a number of years.  He also worked for the local Cable Channel TV-3 behind the scenes as a video editor and programmer.  In his spare time, Marlin enjoyed spending time outdoors riding his four-wheeler, cooking and baking and watching comedies and cooking shows on TV.  Above all, Marlin treasured time spent with his family, his co-workers and the students and travelers he got to know on the school bus and coach trips.  He cherished making special memories with his nieces who he loved with all his heart.

Marlin will be lovingly remembered by his mother, Darlene (Jerry) Wettels of Ponsford; his brother, Randy (Rebecca) Miller of Paynesville; his four nieces: Ashley, Mikayla, Gabriella, and Lexie; as well as numerous aunts, uncles; cousins and many friends.

Marlin’s life had not been without the pain of loss as he experienced the grief of his dad’s death when he was just 16, and the death of his younger brother, Bruce when he was 17 as well as the deaths of his grandparents.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Friday, November 2, 2018 at the Grace Community Church in Osage with the Reverend Paul McKibben and the Rev. Ken Polley officiating.  Dorothy Crook will serve as the pianist.  The congregational hymns will be: “Amazing Grace”, “The Old Rugged Cross” and “I Can Only Imagine”.  The active casket bearers will be Ted Anderson, Aaron Behrmann, Kenny Hemenway, Tim Teiken, Ben Anderson, Doug Voss, Nick Dehler, Joe Riewer, John Magnan, and Keith Janke.  The honorary casket bearers will be his four nieces, Ashley, Mikayla, Gabriella, and Lexie Miller; and adopted niece and nephew: Ella and Carter Behrmann.  Interment will be made in the family plot at the Riverside Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 PM Thursday, November 1st at the Grace Community Church in Osage and will continue at the church beginning noon on Friday.  Following the service, a luncheon will be hosted by the Grace Community Church family.
