 LESTER JOHN STEIDL
September 30, 1927 ~ June 1, 2010

Lester John Steidl, age 82, passed peacefully into Eternal Life on June 1, 2010 at Neighborhood Nursing Home in Somerset, Kentucky surrounded by his loved ones.
Lester was born on September 30, 1927 to Kenneth and June Steidl at Rood Hospital in Hibbing, MN. He graduated from Hibbing High School and went on to Hibbing Junior College for two years. After college, Les went into the United States Army on February 19, 1946 and served in Korea. He was honorably discharged on March 26, 1947. Les continued his education at the University of Minnesota and graduated with a degree in business in 1951. Les met Gloria Rhodes and were married on June 12, 1950. This union was blessed with three children: Sandra Jo, Lester Jay and Nancie Dawn. Les went to work for J. C. Penney in 1951 in Minneapolis, MN. He received his first store manager position in 1962 at St. Louis, Missouri and was manager in Bloomington, MN and Columbus, IN, back to St. Louis, MO and then on to Fort Wayne, IN. He was involved with the Rotary Club, United Fund Education Clubs of America, Christian Business Men and was a Sunday School teacher for college and career class. Les started his singing career as a young child with his Mom, Dad and five brothers and sisters. He sang on the Hibbing radio station as a young boy and continued his singing and praising the Lord as he went into the nursing home. Les was a wonderful servant of the Lord Jesus Christ. Many will be with him in Heaven because of him sharing the gospel with them. Les’s life’s verse was Jeremiah 9:23-24. Psalm 37:4-5 reads: The validation of my witness is in the degree of the excellence of my performance. God is more interested in our being than in our doing. Scripture is not given to increase our knowledge, but to change our lives.
Les is survived by his loving wife, Gloria, three children: Sandra Jo of St. Louis, MO; Lester Jay of Montrose, CO and Nancie Dawn (Wallace) of Somerset, KY, nine grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, brother Elwin (Glendine) Steidl and sister Phyllis Sterling both of San Diego, CA as well as many other relatives and friends.
Les is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Grant and Bob Steidl and sister Dorothy Strick.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00P.M., Sunday, July 25, 2010 at Grace Community Church in Osage, MN with the Reverend Ken Polley officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be made at Riverside Cemetery in Osage.

Gloria, we just saw the H-C. What a precious, sweet Christian man Les was. We'll never forget time he spent on the Paul study with Larry when he was saved 15 years ago. Your home was always so lovely and everyone was welcome. I know you will miss your sweetie, but heaven is a grander place for Les being there. We can only imagine what all Les has seen and done in the last month! Oh my, I know he's waiting on us all to get there with him! Blessings to your entire family!

We are so very sad to say goodby to our good neighbor in Laurel Ridge. Gloria and family, you are in our thoughts today and our memories on and on. We got infected with the hosta fever from Les. He also introduced us to Nancy who gave us two lovely fish and lily ponds which we adore. We do miss you all.

Joseph and Jan Al-Janabi,
Our condolances to all of the Steidl family. Mr. Steidl was an important part of our lives, and we loved him through out these years. There has never been a kinder, more gentle, caring person. We loved him dearly and always valued his opinion and his love for all whom he had in his life. He will be missed greatly by everyone.

Mrs Steidl, you and your family are in thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

With our love,
Joseph and Jan Al-Janabi
