In addition, Andrea was a gifted high diver and dove professionally for a number of years. In 1962, Andrea’s performing career was cut short by a motorcycle accident while on a Broadway tour. Over her lifetime, Andrea made her home in Mpls., California, Park Rapids, Ashville, NC, and Florida before returning to Park Rapids. In her “second wind”, Andrea taught dance from ballet to ballroom to children as well as adults. She owned and operated a ballet studio in Park Rapids which she called the Ballet Academy for many years. She coached conditioning for the Varsity Basketball team at Hamline University in St. Paul and diving for both the Park Rapids Varsity and Jr. Varsity teams from 1978 – 1984. She served as an instructor at the Greenway Athletic Club in Mpls., and also served as a Private Instructor for English horsemanship, Figure skating, and breath control for singers and musicians. She also wrote and directed two plays in Park Rapids. She was a long time member of the Actor’s Equity Union. Andrea’s energy and talents touched the lives of many who knew her as a performer, instructor, coach or friend. Above all, Andrea devoted her life to her children who she loved with all her heart.
She will be lovingly remembered by her son, Chris L. Neuer of Burnsville, MN; her daughter, Heidi Neuer of Park Rapids; three grandsons: Alex Arthur Koester of NYC, Marcus Allen Koester of Mpls and Tyler Neuer of Burnsville, MN and her special friend, Pam Wasche Wilson of Park Rapids who was like a second daughter.

I was in the national tour of Carnival from beginning to end. She also until her accident on a motor scooter in San Francisco. Last Fri. at our Equity meeting they called her name out on the recently deceased list. I was quite sad to hear this, because I knew her. dediohc@yahoo.com

Being a close friend of Andrea, I know she was so proud of her children Heidi and Chris and they both honor her by putting together this beautiful tribute and taking care of her before her parting.
Andrea was a giving person. I remember how we used to get together every week at her home for a pot luck supper and showers. We didn’t have plumbing and were so grateful for her hospitality and friendship.
I enjoyed taking her dancing class at the Ballet Academy in Park Rapids and was impressed by her talent for teaching novices dance routines and putting on beautiful recitals with live piano music. I was truly amazed at her ability to transform a vacant store into a dynamic dance studio.
When Andrea came to Asheville, she started a BioDynamics class. It was there that I learned body awareness I have not forgotten. Although we lived a great distance apart, we spoke frequently on the phone and I enjoyed the many stories she told me about her life and the personalities and antics of her beloved kittys. I will miss Andrea.

Our sincere sympathy to Chris, Heidi and the grandchildren. Although we have not seen you since you were children, but we heard of you from time to time. Your mom, my cousin, was "Fuschia" to the family, and she will always be that to me. I remember wearing her hand-me down clothes as a child and marveling at her ballet dancing. She was a talented, strong and determined woman. We send our love.

I last saw Andrea in the late 1950's in New York City, and remember her as a beautiful ballerina. She was my first ballet teacher and taught me for several years. She was very inspiring and as a result I see dance as an integral part of my life, even now that I am 60! I am sorry for your loss.

"One Autumn day, I was in a park, absorbed in the contemplation of a very small, beautiful leaf, shaped like a heart. It's color was almost red, and it was barely hanging on the branch, nearly ready to fall down. I spent a long time with it and asked the leaf a number of questions. I asked the leaf whether it was frightened because it was Autumn and the other leaves were falling. The leaf told me, "No. During the whole Spring and Summer I was completely alive. I worked hard to help nourish the tree, and now much of me is in the tree. I am not limited by this form. I am also the whole tree, and when I go back to the soil, I will continue to nourish the tree. So I don't worry at all. As I leave this branch and float to the ground, I will wave to the tree and tell her, 'I will see you again very soon.'" Heidi, Chris, Alex, Marcus, and Tyler - Much of Andrea is in you, and she will continue to nourish each of you. In that sense, nothing has changed. In her time with us, Andrea nourished and touched in a very profound way many people. Eric

Chris & Heidi: I read your Mom's obituary in amazement! I commented to my wife on her life's accomplishments & Deb was very impressed! I had know idea she possessed the talents she had. Of course, when we're kids & growing up, your parents accomplishments are never discussed & seem insiginificant until we get older. I'm sure I would have met her at some point in P.R. but I wish I remembered more clearly. Our deepest sympathies to both of you. Maybe we can get a chance to catch up this summer at the All-School Reunion. Take care & God Bless you!

Heidi and Chris, My thoughts are with you both and prayers to get through the loss. Andrea was a very amazing person and not many knew of all her talents and gifts. I was so fortunate to have her share just a bit with me, she was a great diving coach, which obviously was only a smidgen of her talents. I know you are very proud of all that your mother was. My heart is with you.
