RUTH W. B. DEMMON
January 9, 1928 – February 25, 2010

Ruth W.B. Demmon, age 82, of Nevis, MN, peacefully entered Heaven’s gate on Thursday, February 25, 2010 at the St. Joseph’s Hospital Emergency Room in Park Rapids with her loving husband at her side.
Ruth was born on January 9, 1928 near Menahga, MN to John and Bertha (Iggena) Kangas. When Ruth was a small girl of 3 years of age, her father died. Her mother devoted herself to raising Ruth and her four brothers all by herself. She stressed the importance of education and made sure that Ruth and her brothers all graduated from high school. Ruth graduated from Menahga High School with the Class of 1946. As a young woman, Ruth began working as a clerk at the Coop Sampo in Menahga. She worked herself up to the book keeping position. Later, Ruth took over the book keeping responsibilities at the Menahga Coop Creamery and the Coop Creamery in Park Rapids. On June 14, 1969, Ruth’s life was blessed by her marriage to Norman Clyde Demmon at the Park Rapids Assembly of God Church. She devoted herself to making a warm and loving home for her husband. She was a wonderful cook and baker who will be long remembered for her chocolate cake and other home made dishes. In 1976, Ruth began working as a proof reader for the Northwoods Press Newspaper of Nevis in a career that spanned 18 years until her retirement in 1992. Ruth was a woman of unwavering faith in her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She was a member of the Park Rapids Assembly of God Church where for a number of years, she and Norman would pick up children and bring them to Sunday School each week where she was a teacher. She enjoyed working with her hands knitting and crocheting. She was gifted with her beautiful handwriting and with a keen ability to work with numbers. Above all, Ruth dedicated herself to her Lord Jesus and to her husband, soulmate and best friend for the past 41 years, Norman.
She is survived by her husband, Norman of Nevis, MN; her two brothers: Norman Kangas and Russell (Mary) Kangas all of Menahga; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers: Lester and Herb.

To Norman.
Lorna and I were sorry to read about the passing of Ruth and wish to say we are sorry for your loss. I (Deane) remember you and Ray from way back in high school and I think the last time I saw or visited with you was when Lorna and I were home to visit my Mom and Dad (Carl O. Johnson) and we saw you at the Senior Center one day for lunch. Just want you to know that we will hold you in our prayers and that you can look forward to the day you will see her again in Heaven. If you happen to have an e-mail address please let me know what it is. Mine is deanehj@juno.com
