Carol J. Holt, age 51, of Park Rapids, MN formerly of San Diego, CA, passed peacefully into Eternal Life on January 30, 2010 at the St. Joseph’s Hospital in Park Rapids, MN.
Carol was born on October 6, 1958 in Park Rapids to Wayne and Doris (Schurdevin) Conklin. It was in the Ponsford-Detroit Lakes area that she grew into womanhood, graduating from the Frazee High School with the Class of 1977. After high school, in spite of her serious health problems, Carol ventured west where she attended Point Loma College in San Diego, CA. She earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology, Magna Cum Laude in 1983. For many years, Carol worked as an executive secretary for the Grove Christian Fellowship in San Diego. Carol had a strong and faithful relationship with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She lived her life in service to God and shared His love and redemptive power with many others through her words and acts of kindness. Carol loved to worship and fellowship with other believers at Grove Christian Fellowship, where she also met her husband, Lyndon Holt. The two were married on August 28, 2004 in San Diego. A short time later they moved to Minnesota where they settled near Carol’s family in Park Rapids. Carol loved being a homemaker and making a loving home for her husband. She was a wonderful cook and baker. Carol was also a talented artist who loved to bring Glory to God through her oil paintings and writing short stories. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading contemporary classics.
Carol will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Lyndon, her father, Wayne Conklin of Detroit Lakes, MN, her four brothers: Eldon Conklin of Osage, MN, Arnold Conklin, Melvin (Loretta) Conklin and Terry Conklin all of Detroit Lakes; 3 much loved nieces: April Klebs of Akeley,MN, Bonnie Robbins of Park Rapids and Cindy Colgrove of Alexandria, MN; as well as many cousins, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Doris in 2005.
Services will be held 2 PM, Saturday, February 6th, 2010 at the Jones-Pearson Funeral Home in Park Rapids, MN with her former Pastor from Grove Christian Fellowship, Steve Lewis officiating. The special music will be: “He Knows My Name” and “Come Just As You Are”. God bless the memory of Carol J. Holt.
I was really blessed to have been friends with her.
we attended the same church together.Carol and I would always talk about going shopping together.
I felt so honored to have a friend like her.She was the best of the best.
It says in the word,Jesus has gone to prepare a place for us.I believe he did just that.
And now she is in Heaven walking on streets of gold, being the best of the best.
She will be missed. But if we only wait a little while,we to will see her again. This time with more rejoicing then ever before.Thank-You Jesus
We Love You,and we trust and believe in your word.
