  ALFRED J. STAFFENHAGEN
August 12, 1930 ~ February 6, 2013

Alfred J Staffenhagen, Jr., age 82, of Akeley, MN passed away on February 6, 2013.
Alfred was born August 12, 1930 in Akeley, MN to Alfred and Irena (Secord) Staffenhagen. He graduated from Akeley High School in 1948. Alf served two tours of duty in the US Navy stationed in Hawaii. After his service in the Navy, Alf worked construction throughout the Midwest. His work included the Minuteman Missile Silos in Stanley ND, bridges for Interstate 94 from Fargo to Jamestown, ND and bridges for Interstate 35 in Duluth. Alf married Frances Safratowich of Park Rapids. They had two children: Alfred, III and Crystal. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in January. Alf enjoyed hunting and fishing. He served several terms as a City Councilman and Mayor of Akeley.
Alf is preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Irena; brothers: Robert, Wesley, Bazil, Neal, Donald, Joe, and Jack; sisters, Floy and Beverly and his daughter, Crystal.
Alf is survived by his wife, Frances of Akeley; son, Alfred, III of Minneapolis; grandchildren: Justin of Bemidji, Jerry and Isobella of Long Beach, WA; brother, Orville (Delores) Staffenhagen of Rogers; sister, Karyn (Glen) Stiffler of Akeley and a ton of nieces and nephews whom he dearly cherished.
