CORA OLIVE BOYER
April 11, 1912 ~ August 2, 2012

Cora Olive (Engh) Boyer began her earthly journey on April 11, 1912 in Kindred, ND, daughter of Carl and Tina Engh. She ended her journey on August 2, 2012 at the age of 100 at the Nielson Place in Bemidji, MN.
Cora loved growing up in North Dakota and graduated from the Kindred High School. Her passion was to become a nurse; however the economic times prevented her plans. Cora entered her special role as a wife and homemaker when she married William Boyer on November 30, 1935. The young couple moved to Minnesota and found employment on the Ponsford Prairie. A few years later, they started farming in Hubbard County. Motherhood brought Cora great joy and fulfillment as they raised their 5 children. Cora and Bill loved to travel and visit with others. They enjoyed seeing new places and meeting new people, but especially loved dancing together. She loved gardening, visiting with family and friends and attending Calvary Lutheran Church. Cora’s life was enriched by the love she gave to others and also received in return.
She is survived by her children: Janice (Ronald) Newlander, Bette (Victor) Olson, Charles (Karen) Boyer, Richard (Peggy) Boyer and Gary (Lori) Boyer; 15 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; numerous other relatives and many friends.
Cora was preceded in death by her husband, Bill and her parents.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, August 8, 2012 at Calvary Lutheran Church in Park Rapids, MN with Reverend Stephen Norby officiating. Roz Pederson will be the organist. Sue Grage is the vocalist and will sing “In the Garden”, “I Was There to Hear Your Bourning Cry” and “How Great Thou Art”. The Congregational Hymn will be “Amazing Grace”. The casketbearers will be: Tim Arneson, Ron Kivi, Kris Oftedahl, John Hockett, Mary Burkman and Tammi Kleepsi. Visitation will be held from 6-8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, August 7, 2012 at the Jones-Pearson Funeral Home in Park Rapids and for one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.

I was so sad to hear of Cora's passing. What a wonderful gal she was. When she and Bill would come and visit Delton and Ardella, it was always fun to hear of the early years. What a loving couple they were. I am sure that Bill is happy to have his Cora with him in heaven. My thoughts and prayers are with you as you celebrate her life. Lana

Grandma B. I was thinking of the legacy you have given us. You showed us by how you lived your life the tools we need to strive to be the kind of person you are. You will live on in my heart and my hope is that as your dancing with Grandpa again you can look down and see the amazing impact you had. I will always love you and be grateful to you. Love Dawn

Grandma B was one of the most feisty, lively people I have had the privilege of knowing. She never let age or a difficult situation slow her down; instead, she lived her life to the fullest. I will miss her charming, humorous spirit.

I am sorry I won't be able to be with you on Wednesday. We just visited with Cora on the 18th of June. I have this wonderful picture of her standing on the balcony giving us a Minnesota good-bye! The Boyers have always had a special place in the hearts of all the Moellers. A visit to your home was wonderful, and one of the reasons was because of Cora. She always made everyone feel special. I am sure she is waiting for us in heaven with coffee and cookies along with her sisters and the rest of her family.
Our love and prayers,
DiAnne and family
