LUCILLE MAE SWANSON

Lucille Mae Swanson, age 87 of Nimrod, MN passed away on Friday, June 29, 2012 at Tri-County Hospital with her loved ones at her side.
Lucille was born on May 30, 1925 in Chisholm, MN to Elmer and Margaret (Jensen) Olson. They moved to Lyons Township when she was 7 years old. She graduated from Sebeka High School in 1943. She ventured to work in St. Paul, MN assembling airplanes at Holmen Field as part of the war effort. On December 25, 1943 she married Doug Swanson at the Sebeka Methodist Church. This union was blessed with 5 children: Vicki, Duane, Karen, Cheri and Deb. Lucille was a loving mother and homemaker. She was a wonderful cook and baker who will be long remembered for her delicious home cooking. She enjoyed sewing, reading, camping, fishing and spending time with her family and friends.
Lucille will be lovingly remembered by her children: Victoria (Roy) Iverson of Nimrod, MN, Duane (Rita) Swanson of Nimrod, MN, Cheryl (Frank) Arvis of Ironton, MN and Debra Swanson of Glendale, AZ; 17 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren; many other family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Doug in May of 2009; her daughter, Karen who died in March of 2001 and her sister, Dianne.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, July 6, 2012 at Nimrod Lutheran Church in Nimrod, MN with Reverend Mark Hesse officiating.  The organist will be Mitchell Hesse. The congregational hymns will be: “Amazing Grace”, “On Eagles Wings” and “Children of the Heavenly Father”. The casketbearers will be her grandsons: Mike Iverson, Scott Swanson, Jamie Roth, Justin roth, Brian Burgau, Chris Gutknecht, Matthew Iverson and Troy Burgau. The honorary casketbearers will be her granddaughters: Machelle Frisbie, Melissa Hillstrom, Melanie Goldie, Melinda Fillmore, Suzanne Wlasick, Lisa Champagne, Laura Cusey, Kim Moren, Cari Larson and Trisha Skeesick . Visitation will be held from 6-8:00 P.M. on Thursday, July 5, 2012 at Nimrod Lutheran Church in Nimrod, MN and for one hour prior to the services on Friday. A luncheon will be hosted for all to attend following the service. Interment will be held at the Marshall Lyons Cemetery near Nimrod, MN.
