RICHARD RENÈ GLENN ROBERTS
December 1, 1958 ~ July 22, 2012

Richard Renè Glenn Roberts, age 53 of Park Rapids, MN unexpectedly passed into eternity at the Essentia Health Center in Fargo, ND on Sunday, July 22, 2012.
Richie was born on December 1, 1958 in Chatearoux, France to Richard and Jacqueline (Deboudard) Roberts. As a baby of 5 months of age, his parents came to the United States where Richard brought his new wife and son to his hometown of Park Rapids, MN. It was here in Park Rapids, that Richie attended the St. Peters Catholic School and then went on to attend the Park Rapids High School from where he graduated in 1977. Richie then went on to attend the Detroit Lakes Area Vocational Technical College where he studied mechanical arts. Richie then embarked on a long career doing mechanical work – a job he loved. On November 20, 1993, Richie was united in marriage to Mary Jo Baker in Omaha, Nebraska. In 2009, he began working as an equipment operator for Lamb Weston/RDO. Richie had a profound love for the outdoors. In his spare time, he enjoyed trapping, hunting and fishing the Park Rapids area lakes and especially the Canadian waters. He also enjoyed gardening with his wife. Above all, Richie enjoyed spending time with his wife, Mary Jo; his dearly loved mother, Jackie; his sisters and his beloved nieces and nephews.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Mary Jo of Park Rapids, MN; his mother, Jackie (Bob Carlson) Roberts of Park Rapids; his sisters: Belinda (Steve) Whitehill of Omaha, NE and Kimberly (Chris) Ridley of Bloomington, MN, Amber Zona of Bloomington, MN and Angie (Rick) Giese of Lindstrom, MN; step-siblings: Tommy, Cindy and Carmel; special nieces and nephew: Sarah, Spencer and Lexie; 2 great nieces; 2 great nephews; as well as many other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Richie was preceded in death by his father, Richard; his grandparents; his uncle, Bill and his aunts, Pam and Yvette.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, July 26, 2012 at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church in Park Rapids with Father Thomas Friedl officiating. The casketbearers will be: Steve Whitehill, Chris Ridley, Tim McBride, Tom McBrid, Logan Carmichael and Tom Corder. The honorary casketbearers will be: Russ Zirkle, Paul Smith, Gary Sumstad, Bob Thomas, Tom Voight, Frank Freund, John Gribble, Ed Gilman, Mark Kain and Steve Parkos. Visitation will be held from 5-8:00 P.M. on Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at the Jones-Pearson Funeral Home in Park Rapids and for one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Interment will be held at the Bethel Cemetery near Park Rapids. A luncheon will be hosted at the American Legion following the service.
