Leonard was a long time member of Calvary Lutheran Church, Park Rapids Lions Club, Headwaters Golf Club, V.F.W., 40 and 8 Marine Corps League and the American Legion. He spent many years lobbying for funding Chemical Dependency Treatment, work for which he was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award. He loved kids and sports. Andy spent his time at all sporting events helping young people when needed and making sure they all had candy and treats. He was there to help whenever there was a need. He cared about all his family, friends and people as a whole.

3/23/'12 To "Grandpa Andy's" Families, my thoughts and prayers are with you all. Grandpa Andy was a great man who had a heart of gold and was generous with his time and friendliness and was a wonderful man to always admire and appreciate. May His Spirit Live On in his Families and May You always know how truly special he was and how much he meant to us all. I use to deliver his PR Newspaper and Free Enterprise many years ago and he always took the time to say Hello whenever I was doing my route. I always remember the days when he came into Dave and Earls Red Owl too- Everyone called him simply "Grandpa Andy". He was like a grandfather to us all. May He Rest In Peace and Live on in our Memories Forever. I will miss his smile and friendliness the most. R.I.P. Grandpa Andy-you have earned your reward in Heaven.
