  DELORES MAE SEGER
August 12, 1931 ~ July 14, 2012

DeLores Mae (Karo) Seger, age 80, a long time Milaca, MN resident passed from this life to eternal life on Saturday, July 14, 2012 at Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids surrounded by her loved ones.
DeLores was born on August 12, 1931 on the family ranch near Stuart, NE to Max and Marie (Skrdla) Karo. She attended country school and then went on to high school in Stuart from where she graduated with the Class of 1949. As a young woman, DeLores taught country school in Holt County, NE for three years. She was united in marriage to James V. Seger on June 4, 1951 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Atkinson, NE. This union was blessed with four children: Mike, Ron, Cathy and Julee. DeLores devoted herself to making a warm and loving home for her family. She was a wonderful cook and baker who will long be remembered for her homemade chicken and noodles over mashed potatoes, potato salad and caramel rolls. DeLores was known for being a hard worker, farming alongside her husband on their ranch in Nebraska. In 1965, they purchased a farm near Milaca, MN where she continued to help her husband. She was a faithful member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Milaca where she was active in various ministries and served as a Sunday school teacher for many years. Her faith was a vibrant and important part of her life. She had been involved with the Via de Cristo renewal weekends and served as a short-term missionary to Guatemala in 2001. In the past 12 years, DeLores peeled tens of thousands of apples to make pies which were sold to support the church work in Guatemala and encouraged her family and friends to contribute to the ministry as well. In addition to her work with the church, DeLores was active with the Hansen-Hayes American Legion Post #178 Auxiliary, serving as a president and helping to coordinate the annual blood drive. Despite her busy schedule, DeLores made her family and friends a priority. She was always up for a game of cards or a round of bingo and patiently taught each of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren how to play her favorite games. Not only was DeLores adored by her 12 grandchildren, but she also became “Grandma” to the many children she provided daycare for and to her grandchildren’s sports teams. Above all, DeLores will be cherished as a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who left her loving fingerprints eternally on the lives and hearts of each of her loved ones who live on as her greatest legacy.
She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 61 years, James of Milaca; her four children: Michael (Bree) Seger of Wabasha, MN, Ron (Deb) Seger of Prior Lake, MN, Cathy (Tim) Pearson of Park Rapids, MN and Julee (Don) Moorlag of Milaca, MN; 12 beloved grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren with two more arriving soon; her brother Max “Junior” (Luella) Karo of Stuart, NE; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
DeLores was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Jackie, who died in infancy; her much loved sister, Dorothy Farr, and her nephew, Jack Farr.
Funeral services will be held 11AM Saturday, July 21, 2012 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Milaca with the Rev. Timothy Bauer officiating. The organist will be Linda Skinner. Vocalists will include, friend, Barbara Millam who will sing, “Come to Jesus” and granddaughter, Leah Pearson who will sing, “I Can Only Imagine”. The casket bearers will be her grandsons: J.D. Seger, Joshua Pearson, Willie Seger, Jonathan Moorlag, Caleb Pearson, Jonah Pearson and Dylan Moorlag. The honorary casket bearers will be her granddaughters: Caley Philipps, Hannah Kopkie, Veronica Hill, Leah Pearson and Jackelyn Bekius. Interment will be made in the Forest Hill Cemetery of Milaca. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 PM Friday, July 20th at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Milaca and for one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Following the service a luncheon will be hosted by the Trinity Lutheran Church.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be directed to the "Guatemala Action Project" (or G.A.P.), which was very dear to her heart.

To the Seger Families, my thoughts and prayers are with you all during your time of loss. When a loved one passes on to their new life in heaven, its hard for us to understand why their time on earth ended as it did. God has his reasons for calling their angels home. May Your Loved One see the beautiful view from heaven down to earth as she is looking down upon you all. May She Rest In Peace Always and May God Hold You All In The Palm Of His Hand. With Sincerest Prayers and Sympathy and Friendship, Mark J.VonBank- Park Rapids, Minnesota. (Friend of Tim and Cathy Pearson).

So sorry to hear about the loss of your mom, she was quite the fun lady. I have many fond memories of her when visiting your family farm while growing up, and having been able to visit quite often with her over the past years at Milaca area events. She will be missed by many. She will be a great part of "Heaven's Booster Club" I am sure!! Prayers to your family during this tearful time.

I'm so sorry for your loss and look forward to seeing her again in heaven. She was so kind and generous. She delivered home chicken noodle soup to me when I was on bedrest - oh, how we appreciated that. She continually spread God's love.
