FUNERAL SERVICES: 11:00 A.M. Friday, March 30, 2012 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Park Rapids, MN.

VISITATION: 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Thursday March 29th, 2012 at the Jones-Pearson Funeral Home, Park Rapids, MN and 1 hour prior to the service at church on Friday.

INTERMENT: Lemon Cemetery, Badoura Township, MN

SURVIVORS:  Her husband Martin Cox, Daughter Brenda (Dave) Gilbertson, Grandchildren Eric and Katelyn Gilbertson, Three Sisters Claudia (Gary) Vik, Alice (Arnold) Samuelson, Karen (Michael) Freeman, Seven brothers Donald (Joanne) May, James (Nancy) May, Clifford (Gwen) May, Gary (Ilea) May, Larry (Rilla) May, Thomas (Sandy) May and Bruce (Chris) May.

 

 

  

BILLIE LOUISE COX
November 26, 1937 – March 24, 2012

 
Billie Louise Cox, age 74 a resident of the Park Rapids area, passed away on Saturday, March 24, 2012 at the Heritage Living Center in Park Rapids. Billie was born on November 26, 1937 to William and Lorna (Krueger) May in Akeley, Minnesota, where she grew up and attended school. Billie graduated in 1955. She was united in marriage on June 2, 1956 to Martin Cox of Park Rapids, MN. They moved to Bemidji, MN in 1956 and were there until 1961 while Martin attended college. In 1961, they returned to Park Rapids and she worked at various jobs until 1975 when she began working as a receptionist for Dr. James Shubert, Billie retired in 1991. She was an active member of St. Johns Lutheran Church and participated in the Elizabeth’s Circle, Choir, release time teaching, stewardship board, various Bible studies, prayer chain and helped assembled church letters. Billie enjoyed card playing, bird watching, reading, watching T.V. and working crossword puzzles. Her family and grandchildren were the joy of her life.
Billie is survived by her husband, Martin; one daughter, Brenda (Dave) Gilbertson of Annandale, MN; two grandchildren, Eric and Katelyn Gilbertson of Annandale, MN; three sisters: Claudia (Gary) Vik of Park Rapids, MN, Alice (Arnold) Samuelson of Park Rapids, MN and Karen (Michael) Freeman of Jefferson City, MO; seven brothers: Donald (Joanne) May, James (Nancy) May, Clifford (Gwen) May, Gary (Ilea) May, Larry (Rilla) May, Thomas (Sandy) May and Bruce (Chris) May all of Park Rapids, MN; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Gerald and Dennis; three sisters: Deanna, Marilyn and Betty; brothers-in-law: Robert Hinkley, Ben Pickett and Gordon Teigen and sister-in-law, Carol May.
Funeral services will be held 11 AM on Friday, March 30, 2012 at the St. Johns Lutheran Church in Park Rapids with Rev. Neubauer and Rev. Heinecke officiating. The casketbearers will be her brothers: Bruce May, Cliff May, Don May, Gary May, James May, Larry May and Tom May. The honorary casketbearers will be: Alice and Arnie Samuelson, Chris May, Claudia and Gary Vik, Gwen May, Ilea May, Jeannie and Dale Sorensen, Joanne May, Karen and Mike Freeman, Marie and Erv Ophus, Nancy May, Rilla May and Sandi May. Interment will be at the Lemon Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 PM to 8 PM on Thursday, March 29th at the Jones-Pearson Funeral Home in Park Rapids and for one hour prior to the services at the church.
