She was an accomplished Pekinese show dog handler and breeder who received numerous awards. She also had a short and enjoyable career as a lounge singer who used the stage name Elvira. She also nursed back to health many of God’s creatures including wild birds, raccoons, squirrels, and possums. She was a member of the Menahga United Methodist Church, Menahga United Methodist Women, Thimbleberries, Park Rapids Library Book Club, and the Twin Lake Association. She was a woman who valued faith, family, and her freedom. She enjoyed reading, sewing, and the company of her family and friends. I remember the day she visited for a Ross reunion, stumbled and broke her leg. She was in pain but laughed about how clumsy she was. Truly remarkable how she found the bright side of bad situations, and so very proud of her home with Don. I was saddened to hear of her passing and wish Don the strength to continue with her loving memory.

Sharon was a true neighbor. She was always ready for a good vist after she got the dogs quieted down. I enjoyed her smile and her pride in her family. She always had a new picture or event to share. I enjoyed her eagle stories and sat and watched them with her. I know how much she loved her home right next to the river and her love of nature (and her pets). She will be greatly missed.

I spent two weeks with Ms. Sharon, and had planned on many more, and could not have been more warmly invited and accepted into her serene home. I wish I could have met her sooner and had spent more time with her among her family, especially my contact Lil Spanky. My condolences go out to her closest and hope you have long memories of what a sweet lady you had.

I was a house keeper for Sharon and Don for about three years. I got them their last housekeeper, Eugene, who was a God sent to Sharon and Don. You have my sympathy for the lost of Sharon, and Dons lost. Your mother, grandmother, was very well thought of.
Take care of yourselves and Don.

It's a slightly smaller, slightly sadder world without Sharon in it. I recall her joy at finding the peaceful "land between the rivers" that would become the Broughton home, and at watching eagles nest there. What a beautiful person she was. My best wishes to those of you who shared her life most closely -- you knew a treasure.

I know Adrian enjoyed the fishing trips at Sharon and Don's, including Sharon's delicious cooking. I loved talking about books with her. She was a refreshingly straightforward sincere lady. She will be missed.

They sure broke the mold with this one! My grandma was truly one of a kind. I can not fully explain how much she meant to me and so many others. The memories I have will stay with me forever. Without the lessons I learned speaking to my grandma I would not be the person I am today. She tought me so much about life, love and family. We, as a family, are so appreciative of EVERYTHING Sharon provided for us. I am a proud grandson and will continue to use the lessons I learned through the journey of life. Goodnight grandma, see you in the tamoring, I love you(always)

One of, or my best friend for fifty seven years. Bright, vivacious, intelligent, caring, beautiful and all the other adjectives for a truly wonderful person.

My sister and I had many happy memories, including our "sister week" trips with Sheila and Shirley to various places. Most of our time was spent playing canasta.

We all love and miss Sharon dearly. When she was still with us, she expressed the wish for friends and family to share memories of her instead of condolences. That's our Sharon!
