He served in the United States Army from October 18, 1966 until October 3, 1968. During his last year, he was stationed in Fairbanks, AK to help after major flooding. He received medals for good conduct and marksmanship. Jim was united in marriage to Peggy Hare on March 21, 1994 in Soda Springs, ID. They made their home in Judd, ND and owned a bar for a short time before moving back to Minnesota. They had 2 children together, Jacob and Bethany, and planted roots in New York Mills, MN. Dear Peg and family, Jim fought the long and hard battle with cancer with such dignity. I'm so sorry for your loss, there are no words that can take away the pain that you are all feeling at this time, but I hope that the love of family and friends will help at this time.
I only met Jim once, but I thoroughly enjoyed visiting with him and instantly liked him.
