MARGA DOMBROWSKY
September 9, 1926 – December 18, 2010
Marga Dombrowsky, age 84, of Park Rapids, MN, formerly of Minneapolis, MN peacefully entered Heaven’s Gate on Saturday, December 18, 2010 following a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s while under hospice care at the Heritage Living Center in Park Rapids, surrounded by her loved ones.
Marga was born on September 9, 1926 in Solingen-Oligs, Germany to Wilhelm and Helena (Baua) Bopp. At the age of 14, she studied and trained to become a beautician, a career to which she devoted the remainder of her working years. On April 23, 1949, Marga was united in marriage to Wasyl “William” Dombrowsky in Germany. This union was blessed with two sons: Rainer and Peter. In 1950, Marga and Bill ventured to the United States where they settled in Northeast Minneapolis. In those early years of marriage, Marga devoted herself to making a warm and loving home for her husband and sons. Later, she opened “Marga’s Beauty Salon” in Northeast Minneapolis, which she owned and operated for over 30 years until her retirement in 1991. Although, Marga loved her career as a beautician and being involved in the lives of her clients, her devotion was with her family. She was a wonderful baker who will be long remembered for the Bundt cakes, coffee cakes, cheese cakes and wonderful Christmas cookies. She was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed sewing clothes for her children and grandchildren. After Marga and Bill retired, they moved to a new home in Fridley, MN where they enjoyed their retirement years together. In retirement, Marga enjoyed working in her garden nurturing beautiful flowers into colorful splendor for all to see and enjoy. Even in retirement, Marga devoted her life and energies to her children and grandchildren. Marga’s life was forever changed by the death of her husband, Bill in 2002 and following Bill’s passing she came to Park Rapids, MN to live with her son, Peter and daughter-in-law, Laura.
She will be lovingly remembered by her two sons: Rainer (Donna) Dombrowsky of Taneytown, MD and Peter (Laura) Dombrowsky of Park Rapids, MN; her six precious grandchildren and their spouses: Bryan (Irma) Dombrowsky of Morgan Hill, CA, Aaron (Karin) Dombrowsky of Taneytown, MD, Christa Torres of Kansas City, MO, Sarah (Brandon) Zemek of Minnetonka, MN, Alexander Dombrowsky and Angela Dombrowsky both of Park Rapids, MN and her five dearly loved great grandchildren.
Marga was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; two sisters and three brothers.
Funeral services will be held at 4:00 PM Tuesday, December 21, 2010 at the Jones-Pearson Funeral Home in Park Rapids, MN with Father Tom Friedl officiating. The casket bearers will be her grandchildren: Bryan Joseph Dombrowsky, Aaron Simon Dombrowsky, Christa Marie Torres, Sarah Kathleen Zemek, Alexander William Dombrowsky and Angela Christine Dombrowsky. The honorary casket bearers will be her great grandchildren: Riley Marie Dombrowsky, Keegan Lance Dombrowsky, Daniella Marie Torres, Sofia Ellie Donna Dombrowsky, and Rutger Rainer Ben Dombrowsky. Interment will be made next to her husband, Bill at the Sunset Memorial Cemetery in Minneapolis, MN. Visitation will be held from 3 to 4 PM on Tuesday at the Jones-Pearson Funeral Home in Park Rapids.
