FUNERAL SERVICES: 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, August 11, 2010 at the Jones-Pearson Funeral Home in Park Rapids, MN.

VISITATION: 5 - 8 P.M. Tuesday, August 10, 2010 at the Jones-Pearson Funeral Home and for one hour prior to services at the funeral home on Wednesday.

INTERMENT: Greenwood Cemetery, Park Rapids, MN

SURVIVORS:  His wife, Lillian of Park Rapids; his three sons: Doug Hanson of Sauk Rapids, Robert (Riia) Hanson of Fredricksburg, VA and Duane (Kathy) Hanson of Monticello, MN; 5 stepsons: Don, Roy, Bill, Wayne and Gene Andreoff all of Park Rapids; 4 stepdaughters” Charlene Andreoff of Bear Trace, AL, Karen Naber, Cheryl Nagle and Linda Andreoff all of Park Rapids; 31 grandchildren and 41 great grandchildren; l brother, Donald Hanson of Blackduck, MN and 5 sisters: Lillian Ballard of Oxnard, CA, Eileen Bullard of Park Rapids, Marlys Beyer of Wichita, KS, Doris Nichols of Nevis, and Janice Evenson of South Haven, MN; as well as numerous nieces, nephews other relatives and many friends.

 

 

 

 ARLIE CLAYTON HANSON
July 22, 1920 – August 5, 2010
 

Arlie Clayton Hanson, age 90, of Park Rapids, MN formerly of Maple Plain, MN passed away at the Heritage Living Center in Park Rapids, MN on Thursday, August 5, 2010 with his loved ones at his side.
Arlie was born on July 22, 1920 in Beaver Creek, MN to Jens and Helen (Thompson) Hanson. It was in the Nevis, MN area that he attended country school and grew into manhood. In November of 1942, Arlie entered the United States Army where he proudly served his country in the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre of World War II until his honorable discharge In February of 1946. After the war, Arlie returned home to Nevis where he gained employment driving truck over the road for a time. On May 22, 1947 he was united in marriage to Florence Boyce and they were blessed with three children: Doug. Bobby and Duane. The young family made their home in the Maple Plain area for many years. Arlie worked for the Herculift Company as a machinist and welder for many years. On June 29, 1974, Arlie was united in marriage to Lillian Mae Entzel who he had met by purchasing a tractor and jeep from her. They continued living in Maple Plain until the late 1970’s when they built a new home near Nevis, MN and ventured north. Arlie worked for the RDO Company for many years until his retirement in 2000. Arlie loved the out of doors; especially when he could be with his family, hunting, fishing, camping, riding motorcycles or snowmobiling. Each spring Arlie enjoyed planting and caring for his vegetable garden. Above all, Arlie devoted his life to his wife, children, step-children and grandchildren who he loved with all his heart.
Arlie is survived by his wife, Lillian of Park Rapids; his three sons: Doug Hanson of Sauk Rapids, Robert (Riia) Hanson of Fredricksburg, VA and Duane (Kathy) Hanson of Monticello, MN; 5 stepsons: Don, Roy, Bill, Wayne and Gene Andreoff all of Park Rapids; 4 stepdaughters” Charlene Andreoff of Bear Trace, AL, Karen Naber, Cheryl Nagle and Linda Andreoff all of Park Rapids; 31 grandchildren and 41 great grandchildren; l brother, Donald Hanson of Blackduck, MN and 5 sisters: Lillian Ballard of Oxnard, CA, Eileen Bullard of Park Rapids, Marlys Beyer of Wichita, KS, Doris Nichols of Nevis, and Janice Evenson of South Haven, MN; as well as numerous nieces, nephews other relatives and many friends.
Arlie was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.
Funeral services will be held 11 AM Wednesday, August 11, 2010 at the Jones-Pearson Funeral Home in Park Rapids with the Reverend Fred Brown officiating. The vocalists will be Rev. Fred and Bev Brown who will sing, “Mansion Over The Hilltop”. The congregational hymn will be “Softly and Tenderly”. The active casket bearers will be his grandchildren: Charlie Hanson, Tom Hanson, Holly Sutton, Heidi Hanson, Doug Hanson and Wendy Hanson. The honorary casketbearers will be: Don Andreoff, Roy Andreoff, Bill Andreoff, Wayne Andreoff, Gene Andreoff, Charlene Andreoff, Karen Naber, Cheryl Nagle and Linda Andreoff. Interment will be made in the Greenwood Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the Star of The North Marine Corps League under the direction of Mr. David Free. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 PM on Tuesday and for one hour prior to the funeral on Wednesday. I am so sorry that I can not make it up and be with you at this sadden time in your life.
Please except my deepest sympathy in the loss of your Step dad.
I wish you all the love and kindness at this sorrowful time.
Take care of your self’s I hear that both you Roy and Billy have not been doing well with your own health. Take it easy and enjoy the time you have every minute is precious.
And again I am sorry that I am not able to drive this far yet by myself.

Although I did not know Arlie, I know his son, Robb. I'm sure that the strength of character, human decency, leadership and fairness that are evident in the son, can be attributed in no small part to the father. My thoughts and prayers are with the family.
